This was a proposal for a Jean Grey action figure that, due to timing beyond my control, was ultimately never submitted. The concept focused on offering a wider array of display options beyond the usual parts included with standard action figures.
By identifying natural break points in Jean’s costume design, I explored ways to allow parts like hairstyles, costume details, and facial expressions to be swapped in and out. This modular approach allows for up to fifteen possible head combinations, all without the added cost of producing multiple full sculpts or requiring extensive paint applications.
The base was designed to expand on the typical psychic energy flames often seen with Jean. Instead of generic bursts from her hands, the energy effect was shaped as a focused psychic explosion which subtly forms an “X” for obvious reasons. The flame details echoed that theme while also nodding toward her Phoenix powers.
