Bastila Shan from Knights of the Old Republic — one of my favorite characters in the Star Wars universe — is featured here in a statue built around simple but dynamic visual storytelling.
Subtle details help convey this as a frozen moment in time: the droid’s torso is splitting apart from a saber strike, a spray of sparks erupts from its damaged core, and the metal glows where it's been freshly cut. These small cues aim to capture a sense of motion and intensity without overcomplicating the scene.
The droid itself was designed with its legs collapsed after the bisection of one of them, both as a stylistic and structural decision. Its body serves as a key support element for the statue. By anchoring it directly to the base, the need for a support rod or other visually intrusive stabilizers was eliminated. The original long, spindly legs might have created long-term warping issues under the combined weight of the droid and Bastila, so this approach helped maintain both structural integrity and a clean presentation.
An alternate version explored more stylized elements including light trails to suggest the motion of Bastila’s saber, and the droid’s flamethrower mid-burst. Those were ultimately left out to keep the final piece less busy.
