| STEP 2 After scanning the image, I bring it into Adobe Illustrator. I create a layer titled "Reference" that the blue line art is placed on. I lock the layer so I can't edit it, and I make it about 50% lighter than the original scan. I do this so I can still see the image, but it's not distractingly dark when zoomed in to work on the next part. I then create a new layer for my line art, and use the brush tool to essentially trace my scanned line art. I tweak the art in places as I go if I didn't like a certain area upon closer inspection. |
